Coconut palms, native vegetation, sand that seems endless. Little or no structure. The kind of beach that explains why the island still breathes.
Bainema sits on the most preserved stretch of coast, toward Moreré / south. Wild scenery, sea for a long swim and the feeling of being far from the centre — even though you’re on the same island.
On many boat itineraries (“Island circuit”) there’s a stop at pools or stretches linked to Bainema, depending on tide and operator. On foot, access asks for stamina; the isolation is the price — and the prize.
Expect little or none. Bring water, light food, sunscreen, a hat and a bag to take rubbish back. Keeping Bainema intact is part of the experience.
Swimming conditions change with tide and wind. In doubt, ask someone who knows the day — us or the tour driver. Do not improvise shortcuts through mangrove or reef without guidance.
